Why are organic cotton baby clothes so expensive?

Economies of scale are one of the reasons why organic baby clothing is more expensive than traditionally grown cotton clothing. Demand for organic cotton apparel is growing steadily, but the organic market remains a small fraction of consumer spending, resulting in additional costs at each stage. For example, although the cost of making 20 baby pajamas is £10, it costs £2 to make 200 pieces. This is because the tissue and preparation required before sewing the clothes is long and complicated. However, once the sewing begins, the process is relatively fast. Therefore, the more clothes you order, the lower the cost per piece. From manufacturing to transportation, advertising and marketing, small businesses have neither the scale nor the purchasing power to achieve economies of scale, leading to price declines. Another factor that increases the cost of organic clothing is that growth and harvesting are actually more expensive. This seems surprising, but the natural methods a
